Hell's Kitchen Flea Market & NYC

This past weekend myself and 2 of my friends went to NYC to see one of our friends perform at Caroline's Comedy Club (SOO exciting!) and luckily even though my friends aren't dying to go to a flea market like me they went with me and of course we found some treasure :) If you haven't been to this market it's rather small and seems to have a mix of small antiques and then booths with street vendor type items so it's great if you are flying back home and can't carry anything large but want some type of goodie.
This is "Fiona", my friend and I Co-adopted her since we both loved her so much! I've never seen one with 2 drawers for Cake and Bread so we decided she had to come home with us. Originally we thought she would fit in the suitcase but she was much too big so we had to get the LARGEST bag the Disney store had and stuff her in it to carry it on the plane. I know they thought I was crazy sending it thru security but hey it's not the first and won't be the last time I bring junk thru as a carry on! I firmly believe in the " no treasure left behind" method :)

Love these old paper pieces and seed packets~ they will probably end up as a garland for the Fancy Flea~

Children's Blocks and Large Numbered Brass Pin with Canvas Patch to Hook it to

This is a little metal carousel with animals around it that actually spins...I love old Circus items like a kid loves Christmas!

I've been to NYC a few times but always in the coldest weather so it was great to actually be warm and able to walk around and look at the all the flowers which were just glorious. I took a few pics in Central Park I thought you might enjoy~

Almost ready for the Fancy Flea (yeah right!) so I hope to have time to post some pics before the show of what we are bringing and hope to see you there. We did just find out that we are Vendor #176 and will be on E Lemon St. Can't Wait!

A Good French Green

I found these great carved door panels on my latest excursion...no judging at how dirty they are! There is only so much time & energy in one day :) I am probably going to keep these for myself and hang them over my bedroom mantle and have the idea of doing them in a good French green patina with gold leaf and was going thru some potential color choices that make me swoon~

Not winning any awards with those photos but here are the color ideas~

Such good "Patina"

Isn't that just Yummy?

As if the wall isn't enough they have to own that table too...of all the nerve

I love the way this is distressed. It reminds me of my mom who is able to wear white linen and have hair done while wielding an electric sander in 80 degree heat and still manages to look put together at the end of the day! Can't say I look the same at the end of the day...I'm more like a drowned cat....

One last lovely to leave you with. I'm off to NYC tomorrow and hopefully going to be able to spend a little time at Hell's Kitchen Flea Market on Saturday! Enjoy your weekend~

"Faux"-Lix

I feel like I came to the party a bit late when it comes to Tolix...you know...those beautiful simple French Cafe chairs that will cost you a mortgage payment but make your patio...kitchen table or balcony look tres tres chic??? I had to do ome research to find out what the bloggers were talking about and turns out I've seen the chair but had no idea what they were called. In case you are like me here's what the vintage look like~

via Google

via Atelier de Campagne

Aren't they just beautiful? They come in a rainbow of colors and there's just something about them that is wonderful...I can' put my finger on it because it really falls outside of my normal range of things I vear towards but let's just say last wk I found these "Faux"-Lix cafe chairs and danced thru the parking lot while unicorns ran by and rainbows appeared, birds sang and well ...ok none of that happened except in my head!
Just take a gander....
Red is SOOO not my color but I feel like these 2 beauties are my children...yes I'm that much in love. I have not decided if I'm taking them to the Fancy Flea or not...decisions, decisions.

I really racked up this week with finds to a total of 3 trailer loads full so I have a MOUNTAIN of work to do in the next 2 weeks. Here's a few of the small things I found too but I promise there are piles more :)

These bad mamba jambas are about 4-5 inches long and I think Brass

French Mustard Jars that just got here in the mail today after their long journey overseas

This preciousness is about 2ft tall and has a chain to hang by. My thought was that it would be an awesome light fixture with a vintage bulb dropped thru the center. I have a matching one a little smaller too. If you don't hear from me don't worry...I only have a lifetime of painting ahead of me in the next 2 weeks :)

Shop Open. Check.

I'm so excited to finally say the shop is all put together and ready for people! It really turned out so much better than I anticapated and is definitely my favorite room in the house! I live in Downtown St Marys in the Historic District so we fortunately have the space to have a shop in our home right on the main street. I wanted to share some pics to entice you all to take a trip to visit :)

Notice the Industrial Rack from the other post??  I'm in love with it!

My new favorite idea is this chicken coop on the wall, I also have one in my workshop so I can store all my supplies and it so unbelievably handy for keeping stuff sorted and out of my way!

Those wonderful baskets are actually English, one is an old mail basket for the railroad and the other is a linen basket for like a hotel...LOVE

We would love for you to stop if you are in the area!
Right now we are open by appointment (912)227-0319 Aspen
or (912)227-0597 Carol
but will post regular shop hours shortly so please feel free to give us a call if you want to come in.
Hope to See You Soon!
